At the risk of sounding like a dirty old metaphysician, we've got some pictures we'd like
to show you.
They come (so to speak) in pairs. Beneath each pair, you'll see a couple
of white dots. Thus:

Your job is to stare at the dots, allowing your eyes to relax so that
they, in a manner of speaking, de-focus. With a little practice you gently control the
degree of de-focusing. As you do, will notice that the dots appear to move toward each
other. With a little more practice, you can in fact cause them to become congruent.
Instead of two dots, you'll be seeing one dot.
When you've got to the one-dot image, don't do anything else with your
eyes. But: the two pictures above the dots will be sort of blurrily in your field of view.
Don't look at them with you eyes, but only shift your mind's attention to the two
pictures, which, you will find, have not become one.
The remainder of your job is then to contemplate the oneness that you have
created optically out of an unlikely two.
Bonne chance!
