Those Russians. It must have something to do
with the long cold winter nights. First they came up with Tetris, a simple little game
that almost brought the West to its knees when the Cold War was still on.
Now, Alexei Vetchinin and Alexei Galakhov have
cast a tiny screensaver out into the world, for free, called Axogon Meditation. Its 91K
download size is proof that size doesn't matter.

Using carefully selected palatttes, Meditation
puts up a slowly and continuously shifting display of mostly cloudlike forms. In terms of
sheer, evanescent beauty, it's the best we've seen.
The program has minimal configurability. You
can vary the speed, and you can put the display into a quadrant pattern, which gives you a
center point to stare at if you really want to use it for meditation.
