Let's Pretend
by Pedro Bofecillos
Once, words were enough. Then came music, and
theater. Movies, radio, television. Video games. I-Max. 3-D I-Max.
On the stage where Hamlet walked, a helicopter
lands. On the screen where Chaplin gestured, super-fast chips place every hair on the
heroine's head.
In an age of augmented reality, hyper-reality,
could it be that our imaginations are atrophying? How much information do we need to get
the story?
Hint: not much.
Second hint: Maybe we hyper-realists have
forgotten the delight and the richness that come from taking only a few suggestions from
the story-teller and fleshing them out to our own full version.
If you have one minute and fifty-two seconds
to spare, we've created a series of sound effects. Is there a story here? It's up to you,
and your imagination. Click on the test link below and see what happens inside your mind.
