| Amadeus What
Charleton Heston did for Michelangelo and Kirk Douglas did for Van Gogh, what's-his-name
does for Mozart. Filmed in Prague (Vienna doesn't look enough like Vienna?) with
production values usually reserved for Spielberg and Lucas, the movie has its occasional
convincing moments (the excerpt from "The Magic Flute" captures what must surely
have been the rowdy atmosphere in a Viennese musical hall in the 1790s), it's fitting that
the Oscar went not to what's-his-name for his bad-boy Mozart but to Murray Abraham as
Salieri, villain extraordinaire.
