start easy this time and get harder as we go. In each of the first four sentences, you can
find hidden the name of a country or a city. For example, you can find "Canada"
in this sentence: The Englishman arrived on time and the American a day late.
1. A leather couch in a dining room is certainly out of place unless you have a very small
apartment.
2. The merciless capitalists had the poor hobo stoned and beaten on the icy sidewalk.
3. In Paris, the French capital, youll see many fine buildings along with quite a

The doctor, ready for bed, walked into his bedroom, turned off the light, and was able to
get into bed before the room was dark. The bed is 20 feet from the light switch. How did
the doctor do it?

How can you throw a ball so it goes a short distance, stops, reverses, and goes the
opposite way. You cant bounce it off anything, hit it, or attach anything to it.

restaurant, Janet decides to pass the time by observing how the other customers make use
of salt and pepper. She sees that some use only salt, some use only pepper, some use both,
and some use neither. She sees nine people use salt, eleven use peppet. She also notices
that three times as many took both as those who took none. How many customers did Janet
observe?

Huineng was bored and ready to close his fish market for the day. A customer came rushing
in, pointed at a lobster, and said, "How much does that one weigh?" Huineng
thought for a moment and said, "It weighs three-fourths of its weight plus
three-fourths of three-fourths of a pound." How much did the lobster weigh?
