Part 1: The Gnu in History

Pre-Cambrian Gnus
Gnus abounded In the Pre-Cambrian, to such an extent and with such frivolity that they were frequently mistaken for gazelles. (Think about it.)

Gnus in Antiquity.
The gnu was not known In antiquity. How could there be gnus in a period known for is oldness? Which is why "antiquity" had no gnuspapers.

Isaac Gnuton.
Physicist famous for formulating Gnuton’s Law, which states that the gnu drives out the old in direct proportion to the amount of room remaining on one’s Visa card.

See also Thoms Pynchon's bestseller of a few years back, Hyperbolic Parabaloids, Romanian Steroids, and other Pleasures of Literary Academe. My own article, "Blind Man's Bluff; or, Was Borges God's Straight Man?", published In Marshall MacLuhan's farewell opus, Tedium Is My Message, may also be consulted.

The Gnu World.
The name which racist white settlers, their minds perhaps clouded by months of perilous sea-voyaging, applied to the North and South American continents. The fact that the gnu world was at best visionary and at worst genocidally hallucinatory did not appear to bother these persons of European origin. Europe is of course well-known for its lack, and ignorance, of the gnu generally.
