The Mystery of the
Red Dot

"Good taste is the last refuge of the
witless," according to one Marshall McLuhan. Always striving to avoid being counted
among the multitudes of the witless, we publish as much tasteless satire as we can create.
We also add, in each issue, a goodly helping
of tasteless humor material that we don't create, our ever-popular "Tasteless
Jokes" department. Countless hours are spent slaving over a hot computer each month
as we seive the countless really, really awful jokes on the Internet, seeking a few choice
ones. We have two criteria for the jokes we publish: 1) They must be tasteless, and 2)
they have to strike at least two staff members as funny.
Being human, we are always unsatisfied with
our present lot. Thus, to ensure that we remain outside McLuhan's definition of the
witless, we have surreptitiously added tasteless cartoons to each issue. Cllick on the
little red dot lurking at the bottom of the column on the front page of each issue, and
you'll find yourself transported into the very depths of tastelessness: dirty cartoons.
Please note: like the jokes, the cartoons are
not our creation. They come from even more hours of combing through the vast amount of
unfunny detritus on the Internet, in search of a few good visual jokes. Surprisingly, we
do find a some.
As for copyright, all we can do is say we get
this stuff fourth-, fifth-, tenth-hand. If we're stepping on anyone's copyright, let us
know and we'll either delete the offending image or offer suitable emolument.
